About Phil
Phil has dedicated over 30 years to the craft of writing. Early work includes publications with a local small press and a memoir selected for a university textbook. Today, he weaves personal experiences into works of fiction that explore the nuances of life, relationships, and complex emotions. Phil aims to create evocative stories that reflect the vulnerability and resiliency of the human spirit. He is currently working with an editor on his debut novel, Faire Play, which follows a son navigating the unknown landscape of a Renaissance Faire while haunted by memories of his fractured relationship with his dying father.

Highway Blue
Highway Blue is a poignant story of endurance, loss, and the fragile power of hope, exploring how a child’s search for home can become a journey through grief, resilience, and the painful end of innocence.
This piece of fiction opens with Adrian, a 12-year old boy, as he prepares to run away from his drunken father. His plan is to hike 40 miles through the wilderness, with limited possessions, to the safe haven of his grandmother’s. With bruises on his back, desperation in his mind, and music in his heart, follow his journey for boyhood normalcy and acceptance.

Faire Play
Haunted by childhood abuse and a dying father, Adrian drifts through corporate jobs and broken relationships, always running when life demands vulnerability. Diane, an intelligent and independent café worker finishing an advanced degree, has grown disillusioned with relationships that prioritize appearance over genuine affection. When they meet by chance at the cafe, they connect through witty discussion about Shakespeare and a view on romance, through different lenses.

The Curveball Theory
What if the struggles, setbacks, and uncertainty you spend your life avoiding, are the very things that can forge you into the person you’re meant to become?
Imagine a life, not without fear, but resilient in the face of it. How we respond when life throws us unexpected challenges is at the heart of personal growth. Just like a curveball, moving toward lower pressure, our natural tendency is to move away from difficulty, from the unknown. Growth occurs when we resist that instinct and intentionally move toward hard things instead of away from them. It’s not success that makes you stronger, it’s the struggle.
